As expected in an MSM story, disinformation even a middle eastern country could be proud of.
It is the Phoneutria genus (wandering spiders) that is known to cause that effect (called priapism) and L. mactans is the southern widow, found commonly in the United States even as far north as New York.

So what about kids enrolled in the 4H club or the elderly that have a vegetable garden in their yard?
This reminds me of a South Park episode when the Catholic Church had to break down and ask the holiest of holiest (a spider) to draw some difficult lines.
