These are both excellent photos in their own right. The use of depth of field in the first capture is spot on. there is just enough definition for the viewer to see that this is a cemetery. You’ve isolated a subject however the out of focus background is really what tells the story. The colors are great, nicely done Todd.
On the second photo, all politics aside (I regularly vote Dem and Rep and wish there was a third mainstream party), I’m viewing this as more of a graphic/political statement than a straight up capture. The translucent nature of Bush against the wall is the first key. With that said, I think there is a unique parallel between the two images. On one hand you have a Mafioso boss type ( Sam Giancana??) and our President. At times they have both used their power to lie and create Havoc.
